FAQ
Watt-Hours = Amp-Hours x Battery Voltage
100Ah x 12.8V =1280Wh
Our 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries have a maximum charging current of 100A. However, we typically recommend charging them at 0.2C (20A)for optimal balance of speed, safety, and longevity.
The recommended operating temperatures for our 12V 100Ah lithium battery are:
- Charging: 0°C – 65°C
- Discharging: -20°C – 70°C
- Storage: 0°C – 60°C
The built-in Battery Management System (BMS) provides high- and low-temperature protection, ensuring safe operation. For example:
- Low-Temperature Protection: Automatically halts charging if the temperature drops below -20°C to prevent damage.
- High-Temperature Protection: Stops charging/discharging if temperatures exceed 65°C (charging) or 70°C (discharging).
Key Notes:
- Performance in Extreme Conditions: While the battery can operate in these ranges, optimal performance is achieved within 20°C – 25°C.
- Avoid Prolonged Exposure: Extended use outside the recommended ranges may reduce lifespan or efficiency.
- Storage: Keep the battery in a dry, temperature-controlled environment when not in use.
Safety First!
The BMS ensures safe usage, but always monitor battery conditions in extreme environments.
Battery runtime is influenced by multiple factors, including battery capacity, connected load, and the battery’s condition. For example, a new battery performs better than a used one, as its capacity slightly decreases with repeated charge cycles. However, you can estimate runtime using a simple formula based on power consumption and battery capacity:
Runtime (hours) = Battery Capacity (Wh) / Total Device Power Consumption (W)
Example:
If you have a 12V 100Ah battery and connect a 50W lamp and a 50W speaker, the runtime will be:
1280Wh / (50W + 50W) =12.8 hoursThis straightforward formula helps estimate runtime under different loads. Always consider real-world factors like temperature and battery aging for more accurate predictions.
To charge a 12V 100Ah battery from 100% depth of drain in 4.5 peak sun hours, approximately≥400 watts of solar panels and an MPPT charge controller are required.
Two 12V 100Ah batteries in parallel and a single 12V 200Ah battery provide the same total capacity (200Ah). However, using a single 200Ah battery offers key advantages:
- Consistency & Stability
A single battery ensures uniform cell aging, voltage balance, and consistent performance.
Parallel configurations risk imbalances due to differences in internal resistance or slight capacity variations between batteries. - Simpler Setup
Fewer wiring connections reduce complexity and potential failure points.
Saves space and minimizes installation effort. - Compact Design
A single 200Ah battery occupies less physical space than two 100Ah batteries.
When to Choose Two 100Ah Batteries:
Redundancy: If one battery fails, the other can still provide partial power.
Scalability: Easier to expand capacity incrementally (e.g., adding more batteries later).
Final Recommendation:
For most applications (e.g., solar storage, RVs, backup power), a single 200Ah battery is preferred for simplicity, reliability, and space efficiency. Use parallel setups only if redundancy or scalability is a critical priority.
Not recommended. WattCycle requires four rules for safely connecting batteries in series or parallel:
- Same brand
- Same voltage
- Same current (capacity)
- Purchased within 6 months
Why Mixing Different Batteries Is Risky:
- Imbalanced Performance: The 12V 100Ah battery and mini battery likely differ in capacity, internal resistance, or age, leading to uneven charging/discharging.
- Reduced Efficiency: One battery may drain faster, forcing the other to overwork.
- Safety Risks: Mismatched batteries can overheat, degrade prematurely, or even fail.
Recommendation:
- Use identical batteries (same brand, voltage, capacity, and age) for safe and stable operation.
- If you need more capacity or voltage, stick to one battery type (e.g., If you need a 24V 100Ah battery system, then it is recommended to purchase a 24V 100Ah battery. instead of 2 12V 100Ah batteries).
The primary difference lies in their physical size:
12V 100Ah battery dimensions: L260 x W168 x H209mm
Mini battery dimensions: L229 x W138 x H208mm
By connecting 4 parallel 12V 100Ah lithium batteries, you significantly increase your system’s total capacity, extending runtime. This configuration creates a 12V 400Ah battery system, delivering up to 5.12kWh of energy.
Runtime Calculation:
Runtime (hours) = Total Battery Capacity (Wh) / Total Device Power Consumption (W)
Example:
If you connect 4 parallel 12V 100Ah lithium batteries to a 50W lamp and a 50W speaker:
5.12kWh (5120Wh) / (50W + 50W) = 51.2 hours
Absolutely. LiFePO4 batteries are among the safest and most stable lithium battery technologies available.
WattCycle LiFePO4 batteries use high-quality Grade A cells and feature an integrated Battery Management System (BMS), providing protection against overcharging, overvoltage, extreme temperatures (including deep discharge protection), and more.
All WattCycle batteries undergo strict quality testing before leaving the factory and are certified to standards such as CE, RoHS, and UN38.3, as well as classified as Class 9 dangerous goods for transport.
The WattCycle LiFePO4 12V 100Ah battery measures 260 × 168 × 209 mm (L × W × H) and complies with the BCI Group 24 standard.
It weighs 10.5 kg, making it approximately 50% lighter than a typical 12V 100Ah AGM battery.
No, this battery is not designed for engine starting.
However, it is perfectly suitable for use as a leisure or auxiliary battery in vehicles such as RVs, campervans, or boats.
This 12V 100Ah battery does not include Bluetooth functionality.
To monitor battery status and capacity, an external battery monitor is required.
Passive balancing is activated when the battery voltage exceeds 13.6 V and the voltage difference between cells reaches ≥ 30 mV.
The balancing current is relatively low, at approximately 50 mA + 20 mA, meaning the process works gradually to equalise the cells over time.
Yes, this is possible.
However, WattCycle recommends occasionally separating the batteries and charging them individually to 100% to maintain proper balance and performance.
Yes, the battery supports an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C.
At temperatures below -20°C, the battery will automatically stop discharging to protect itself.
Once the temperature rises above 5°C, the BMS protection is released, and normal operation resumes.
